Bio
Across my varied professional and educational experiences, from a large public high school (Oak Park and River Forest High School) to small liberal arts colleges (Bowdoin College, Middlebury College Language School) to a Jesuit graduate program (Boston College), and finally to a private research university (Case Western Reserve University), I developed an authentic love of studying and sharing the humanities. My appreciation of language and the arts has allowed me to teach and learn from diverse groups including: migrant farmworking teenagers, collegiate student-athletes, aspiring college and graduate students, small business owners, civil rights attorneys, and incarcerated adults. Furthermore, this love has driven me to apply to and gain admittance into a variety of post-graduate scholarships and volunteer programs including: U.S. Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Program, Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, and Jesuit Volunteer Corps. It has been a journey of wonder and humility, one in which I have come to learn that the people I accompany and teach are those who, in turn, accompany and teach me.
Guiding my working style and philosophy is an ethic of accompaniment. I strive to meet people where they are, walk with them on their journey, listen deeply and hear them into speech, and create an inviting space of wonder so they may find ease in risk-taking and discover their own innate capacity to overcome the obstacles that daunt them. Above all, I strive to lead students, business owners, and non-profit leaders toward their growing edge - the elusive place of fulfillment they previously did not imagine was possible.
